Conduit Sizing

You have just completed a installation design calculated all the costings for a building predominantly built with concrete slabs and columns. When you order the the multi-core cables from your preferred supplier and find out they are not able to fulfill the order, your second choice is only able to offer cable manufactured by another company. The size of the cable is 20% thicker than that of the cable you had included in your installation. Two things will happen, you will need to redisign your whole installation including pricing and if there are hundreds of circuits there is a lot of editing to be done, which of course the software is capable of doing and you are going to be an unhappy camper.
If you are going to do a cable run in conduit solutions Electrical Software has the ability to give you the correct conduit size to your corresponding wiring regulations, for Insulated Unsheathed Single Core Cable and Insulated and Sheathed Single Core Cables. Different cable manufacturers use different cable specifications with their multi-core cables. The insulation thickness may vary as much as 20% for the same size conductors made by different cable manufacturers. With that in mind the program developer has chosen not to include multi-core cables in the conduit selection module.
